Ray

Team: Man UP

Ray is an 18 year-old high school student. He got involved with the PAL program when one of the coaches came to his school and recruited him. Ray’s eyes light up when asked about how the PAL program has changed his life for the better and has made a positive impact on his life. Ray credits the program to showing him how working together as a team can unify both friends and enemies together to reach a common ground and greater goal. After graduation, Ray plans to go to college and fulfill his ultimate goal of becoming a CEO.

Devante

Team: Victory Outreach

Devante is a 17 year –old high school student. He heard about the PAL program from a friend at school. He credits the PAL program to helping him stay focused in school and in his personal life. Besides playing basketball he enjoys playing football, video games and hanging out with his friends. 6’5’’ Devante hopes of making it to the NBA but if that doesn’t pan out he would like to become an engineer. He plans to attend college after high school.

Dawontae

Team: Man Up

Dawontae is an 18 year-old high school senior and has been with the PAL basketball program since the beginning. He joined the team in hope of taking a stand for peace in his neighborhood. He says that PAL has taught him to work as a team, keep off drugs and alcohol, and stay away from violence. Speaking candidly with Dawonte, he states that he plans on going to college and choosing a math related major. What’s in store for Dawontae? He says his dream is to “become an entrepreneur, like Bill Gates. “
